This one is a first submission that we got from one of our members. Maria Clara Triper who went on a sort of "Spiritual Journey" to Caracas, Venezuela, where she originally hails from. Across several days in April she photographed from a car seat a series of... buses. As she explained to us, she "gravitated towards the concept of faith and religion throughout the city, and how predominant it is everywhere. The buses are privately owned but form part of the public bus route, and essentially when owners buy their bus they personalise it with dedications to either saints, God, virgin Mary or even family members for protection or as an act of gratitude. Some saints are more like myths or dark magic etc etc. But the graphics vs the content of these is such a juxtaposition that I find it hilarious and fascinating" . We also find it fascinating and are thrilled to distribute such a pure gem among our members. As a cherry on top, she tracked down one of the designers who creates the bus graphics to design the title for her submission.
Please note, that Maria Clara is not a photographer, but it doesn’t matter at all. We feel that these images were made with no special intent or plan, just pure fascination and for a sake of doing them. That’s why we think they’re great. And that is why we encourage all of you to send us stuff that sits deep in your hard drives or hides in the darkest corners of your phones!
